Liquid CO2 – Low Temperature Applications

by Sam A. Rushing, Advanced Cryogenics, Ltd. | June 4, 2018 (Published in Gasworld).

By far, the cryogenic freezing of food products is the hallmark of low temperature applications for the commodity that is carbon dioxide (CO2).

My personal experience with respect to low temperature applications for the commodity have been the lion’s share of the merchant work, in the past with the former AmeriGas, CO2 Division, by far. The same applies today when I work with independent gas companies outside of North America, such as in Africa and the Middle East, when developing and instructing such companies in the art of CO2 usage in food processing, cryogenic freezing, and temperature reduction…

Liquid CO2 – Low Temperature Applications

by Sam A. Rushing, Advanced Cryogenics, Ltd. | May 1, 2011 (Gasworld).

USP grade carbon dioxide is carving a growing niche as biomedical applications march forward, Sam A. Rushing explains.

Carbon dioxide is a liquefied gas refined, and sourced from a handful of chemical, energy, and natural sources. The sources are primarily from fermentation by-product in industrial ethanol production, a by-product of anhydrous ammonia production, and reformer off-gas in refineries. CO2 is also sourced from naturally occurring geologic domes. A few other source types exist, such as flue gas from cogeneration, titanium dioxide and ethylene oxide production…
